Beef smore is the Sri Lankan version of pot roast beef - a legacy of the European presence on the island.

Once the beef is sealed off it can be left bubbling away for a couple of hours creating a delicious aroma in your kitchen - it’s the perfect meal for a cold evening or even a spicy alternative for Sunday lunch!

Shopping List

  • 1kg whole piece of beef brisket or topside (string removed if tied)
  • 1 large red onion - thinly sliced
  • Fresh ginger - finely chopped to make 1 tbsp
  • 2 cloves of garlic - finely chopped
  • 1 lemongrass stalk - bashed with a rolling pin then cut into 3cm lengths
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
