In Thai, ‘nam’ loosely translates as water and ‘prik’ as chilli - most Thai chilli sauces begin with this terminology.

This is one of the most simple versions, the ‘pla’ meaning fish sauce, and is one of the most used condiments in Thailand - leave on the table to use as you would salt and pepper!
