Spice & craft beer pairing with Moor Beer

When local brewers Moor Beer opened up around the corner from us at The Spicery HQ, little did we realise how well beer and spiced food can pair together. But a few drinks later, the ideas got flowing, and chefs Matt and Alice got plotting!

After a few trial runs over lunch (it’s a tough job), the 5 course menu was set and we started inviting customers! We ran two suppers, a week apart - Thurs 28th April and Thurs 5th May.

Chefs Alice and Matt hard at work all day getting everything ready.

We even got hold of some outrageous tablecloths for the occasion! The menu

Nor’Hop ~ Goan Coconut Pancake with Chicken Cafreal & Mango Raita
Illusion ~ Moroccan Lamb Pastilla with Rose Petal Harissa
Return of the Empire ~ Yucatan Fish Tacos with Habañero Salsa ~
Confidence ~ Vietnamese Bún Bò Huế with Chilli Sauce
Dark Alliance ~ Ancho Chilli Chocolate Brownies with Salted Orange Caramel Sauce

Between each course one of the team from Moor Beer would introduce the upcoming beer & food pairing.

The dessert course - huge slabs of brownie! Paired fantastically with a dark, hoppy coffee ale.

James rounded everything off with a tour of The Spicery at the end of the evening. We all had a fantastic evening and enjoyed learning about beer and food, and it was great to meet so many of our customers. We're looking forward to our next event!
