Sesame Crusted Tofu

Any tofu sceptic is bound to be converted with this delicious and easy recipe, first marinated in soy and sesame oil for a delicious savoury flavour, then coated in a moreish crunchy crust. It makes a great starter for a Noodle Legend feast, or as a main course dish for a vegetarian - serve with a spicy condiment or as we're doing here, with sweet soy dipping sauce for a revelatory tofu experience!

Shopping List

  • 400g appox. block of firm tofu - drained then patted dry
  • 2 cloves of garlic - finely grated or crushed
  • Fresh ginger - finely grated or chopped to make 1 tbsp
  • 1 egg (any size) - beaten
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (any type)
  • 1 tsp vinegar (rice, white wine or cider vinegar is best)
  • 100g cornflour
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil or use sunflower or vegetable oil
