Our ever popular chilli apple chutney - dark and sweet with a complex depth of flavour from a combination of five different chillies (Aleppo, Urfa, Kashmiri, naga and pasilla) along with warming, sweet spices including cloves, cassia, allspice and ginger

Recipe

Spiced Apple Chutney Recipe

You need:

1kg cooking apples - peeled, cored and cut into large chunks
1 large onion - finely chopped
150g raisins or sultanas
400g sugar (soft light brown sugar is best)
400ml vinegar (white wine or cider vinegar is best)

Method:

Preheat the oven to 100°C/gas mark ¼
Wash 2-3 large jars and their lids in hot soapy water, rinse, then place in the oven for 5-10 minutes or until dry to sterilise them
Boil the vinegar, sugar, apples, onion, raisins, 1 ½ tsp salt and the SPICED APPLE CHUTNEY BLEND then turn the heat down and simmer uncovered, stirring regularly, for 1 hour 20 minutes or until the apples have completely broken down and a spoon stirred through the centre leaves a clear trail for a couple of seconds
Carefully spoon the hot chutney into the sterilised jars, seal tightly and store in the fridge
