Stifado is a rich beef or lamb stew from Greece which uses red wine and vinegar as a base for the sauce, packed with plenty of onions and gently spiced with fragrant cinnamon and nutmeg. On the side is a fresh and tangy Greek salad for a delicious taste of summer holidays, resulting in a dish that suits warm weather just as much as it satisfies during the colder months.

This kit contains the recipe and all of the spice blends needed to cook the different components of the meal - all you need to do is add a few fresh ingredients and follow the simple steps!

  • 500g diced beef or lamb
  • 2 carrots
  • 4 red onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 300g cherry tomatoes
  • ½ cucumber
  • 1 green pepper
  • 100g feta cheese
  • 50g black olives (optional)
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp  honey or sugar
  • 250ml red wine (any type)
  • 4 tbsp vinegar (red wine vinegar is best)
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Salad Blend: oregano, mint, sumac, black pepper
Stifado Blend: rosemary, mild chilli flakes, Urfa chilli, sumac, paprika, allspice, nutmeg, black pepper, thyme, bay, cinnamon, oil, salt
