Chinese BBQ Ribs

These delicious ribs, coated in a rich tangy sauce flavoured with lots of soy and star anise from our BADIAN BLEND, are a real favourite at Spicery HQ and make a deliciously indulgent main course. In the summer you can cook them on a cool part of the barbeque in a foil parcel, then unwrap and brush with the sauce to serve.

Shopping List

  • 1kg approx. pork ribs - cut into individual ribs if in a whole rack
  • 1 clove of garlic - finely grated or crushed
  • Fresh ginger - finely grated or chopped to make 1 tbsp
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (any type)
  • 1 tsp vinegar (rice, white wine or cider vinegar is best)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce or oyster sauce or use 1 extra tbsp soy sauce
  • A few drops of red food colouring (optional)
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

BADIAN BLEND: 2 ½ tsp

LA JIAO BLEND: tsp

MA LA BLEND: 2 ½ tsp

ZHIMA BLEND: 4 tsp
