The island of Okinawa in Japan has hosted thousands of American troops since the end of the Second World War, and local restaurateurs have adapted menus to cater for them. Taco Rice - sticky rice topped with all of the fillings from a classic beef taco - was a big hit there in the 1980s, and is now popular across the country.
